This is pretty cool i got 3 of them today at my local ollies discount store.
The fact that there is no keyboard is a drawback however the USB Port allows you to connect any USB device that android will normally see.
There are small 5x7" keyboards with track pads at Amazon or eBay for $15 I will be getting a couple of those ..
also there are tv remote size keyboards that have air mouses in them so you move your arm to position the mouse.. those are cool too but start about $20 .. worth it if you game because they have the sensors in it for driving cars and stuff.
What you need to know about this device.
The first thing you want to do when you get it booted into android is to go into settings and adjust your display.
you will have arrows that you have to bring in to the view of your tv so you can access all the menu items.
To access Settings its the 9 box block in the top right of the screen.
Its android 4.1 so once you boot it and get the wifi setup it will initiate an OS update.
Second it comes with a few basic apps .. I have not checked if it is rooted but it let me remove a couple of those apps that I will never use on my TV like facebook and dropbox.
You will need a GMail account for it so you can setup and add apps from Play Store.
I will probably try to install Kodi.tv but I know I will install Hulu which now allows you to view their content without paying.. not all of it.. but the same stuff you can see from a computer.
I will also stream from my local network from my archive of tv shows I record with my TV Card in my computer.
VERY IMPORTANT
when you install the cables you MUST use the USB extension cable when you attach the mouse adapter. The mouse adapter will interfere with the wifi unless it is on the extension cable and you want to extend that cable away from the device.. its about 18" long.
Also there is a green light that shines through the usb port on the stick so you know that it has power and is working.
If you don't get signal on your HDMI port on your tv .. make sure you remount the cable.. I had a problem with one of my cables and had to open a second box but I think i just did not insert the HDMI extender cable far enough.
So far I have 2 booted.. one setup and able to stream full HD video from YouTube that looked just as good as my computer.
REALLY impressed with this.
Rooted or not it gives you full access.
The Mouse is workable and I setup my Wifi which has a very long password in reasonable time.. faster than my phone.
Forget the warranty .. just use the wireless mouse with your computer and you're ahead.
